Welcome to our blog, The Stream Team. This blog is run by six Loyola University Chicago students: Ella Heider, Amanda Tello, Alexandra Ditoro, Nicolas Tamayo, Lauren Rohde, and Aylissa Ritterhoff. A passion we all share is binging movies and shows on several different streaming services when we should definitely be doing schoolwork. Considering we are all college students, it can only be assumed that there are other people out there like us.

Since there are so many streaming services available, we decided we should discuss all major services that are popular among college students; including, but not limited to: Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Amazon: Prime Video and Xfinity. This could also be a worthwhile read for that one family member or friend that always hounds you about which new shows they should watch.

We’ve been streaming media for over a hundred years (Pace Technical). From radios to television, people have used different devices to consume the content that they enjoy. Today, we mostly turn to online streaming services that are powered by the Internet. As PaceTechnical.com puts it, “[Internet Streaming] technology began in the early 1990s and has been revolutionized in recent years by companies such as YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, and Hulu.” We often log on to our favorite streaming platform without realizing how innovative, convenient, and frankly magical the whole experience is. Past generations would never believe how our technology works today.

With so many movies, shows, and specials on these streaming services, it can be difficult to decipher which shows are worth the watch, and which are not up to par. Navigating these forums and making decisions on what to watch can actually take more time than watching the show. Since there are thousands of choices on how to spend your digital downtime, the #Stream Team will hold your hand and lead you to something we know you will love. From recommendations, analysis, reviews, comparisons, and so much more, we will give you the lowdown on the ins and outs of major streaming services.
